February Fun
I can't believe February is already over. I have mixed feelings about it... happy for warmer weather and seeing Rain continue to grow and change... sad that we're closer to Shane leaving again and feeling that Rain's baby days are passing too quickly. I guess that's why I've been posting so much lately... just trying to capture every precious moment. Here are a few from February...
Trying out the Bumbo
Relaxing drive around Miura Pennisula
SERIOUS frown face!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Plum Blossoms
First time in the Exersaucer
And first time facing out in the carrier!

February 9, 2011 4 months
Yes, I'm definitely behind posting this one, but better late than never. :)
Rain's 4 month appointment was February 10th and she is weighing in at 13.1 pounds, 24inches long, and head circumference of 41 cm putting her somewhere between the 25th and 50th percentiles for her age.
The doctor says she's doing great and right on track developmentally. Since she has full head control now we have the go ahead for exersaucers, facing out in the carrier, etc... and are taking FULL advantage of this - she LOVES looking around when we go on walks (though they've been few and far between because of the weather) and she's fascinated by the toys on her exersaucer.
I realize this is entirely too many pictures to post of her in the same outfit, in the same chair, but I just LOVE her faces and posture in these pictures!

January 29, 2011 Asakusa and Kappabashi
We decided to get adventurous/brave and take a day trip to Tokyo with Rain a few weeks ago. I say brave because it's about an hour train ride to get there and an hour is a VERY long time if you happen to have a crying baby! Fortunately for us she did pretty well and didn't cry too much.
Coming out of the Asakusa train station, we noticed the Tokyo Sky Tree. We just learned a few weeks ago that it is not only the tallest building in Japan but the second tallest building in the world! The only building that is taller is in Dubai and Shane has seen it too!
The Kaminarimon gate for our main stop of the day - Sensoji Temple, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple. Can you find me in the crowd?
A street of vendors connecting the entrance to the actual temple.
Shane tasting an oishi (delicious) bean paste dessert. He really did like it, but the first bite is always a little scary. :)
The inner gate before the Sensoji Temple. Absolutely breathtaking and HUGE!
Incense burning in front of the temple... interesting fact, this temple was constructed in 645 making it the oldest temple in Tokyo.
5 storied pagoda
Clearly, Rain is extremely interested in the temple!
Beautiful gardens
Funny udon noodle sign... the chopsticks moved up and down!
Neat area of restaurants we found while making our way to Kappabashi.
Kappabashi (also known as kitchen town) is an area in Tokyo that sells, you guessed it, kitchen items... more specifically restaurant items. My entire reason for going here was to get this picture... looks like all kinds of yummy delicious treats, right?! Everything is wax! Many of the restaurants here have window displays with very detailed fake food... we considered buying a fake beer until we realized it cost 6500 yen (roughly $75)! A little too expensive for a gag gift!

January 17. 2011 our little snow monkey
We decided to make lemonade out of this freezing cold winter and took a day trip to Gala Yuzawa in Niigata prefecture for some snowboarding last month! We went by train last year but decided with Rain it might be better to drive.
This was the beautiful view we got driving there - Fuji-san!!
We (I) got pretty nervous as we were getting closer to the resort because there was a LOT of snow and the roads weren't plowed very well, but we eventually made it even though it took a bit longer than we would have liked.
Rain checking out the slopes with daddy... no we did NOT strap her in carrier and take her on the slopes (though we saw some Japanese people do it last year!) Rain and I stayed in the lodge while Shane boarded. Yes, I'm the best wife ever... by the time we got there it wasn't enough time for us both to board so I took one for the team (and was happy to do it for him!)
